St. Tropez

St. Tropez is a small coastal town on the French coast. Between Fréjus and Hyères, due to dense pine, oak, and chestnut forests extending to the very shore, there is no room for larger settlements, making the coastal road here uniquely beautiful. The road winds mostly halfway up the hills, offering the finest views of the sea. Former small fishing villages that have lost none of their original charm curl around the bays. People come to St. Tropez to see and be seen.

The town became famous after the filming of "And God Created Woman" (1956) starring Brigitte Bardot. The image of an unrestricted, somewhat wild lifestyle attracted young people from all over the world, and later, a large number of tourists to this once small, quiet fishing village. Today, tourists visit for its unique architecture, natural beauty, fine wine, luxury accommodation, and world-famous port. During your stay, you must try the famous "Tarte Tropézienne" pastry, which Brigitte Bardot ate daily during filming breaks, made by local pastry chef Alexandre Micka. Enjoying the treat, she named the previously unnamed cake the Tart of St. Tropez. In 1985, Albert Dufrêne took over the management of Alexandre Micka's company and maintained the quality of the highly demanding production, while the recipe remains a secret.

The town is also known for "Rondini" handmade sandals. Back in 1927, a small shoemaker's shop opened, offering just one model of handmade sandals; today, it is widely known and stands as one of the symbols of this town. Today, it offers a large selection of handmade sandals, which Marlene Dietrich also used to buy.
